Youth Mental Health First Aid Refresher

The YMHFA refresher training Brisbane allows people who have finished (2 days) Youth Mental Health First Aid training session to invigorate their knowledge, skills and abilities. For people who are Accredited YMHFAiders, refresher training offers a chance to extend their accreditation for another three years. The content of Youth Mental Health First Aid refresher training course is based on guidelines established through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems, mental health nurses, carers and professionals.

Youth Mental health first aid is the initial assistance provided to a young person who is experiencing a mental health problem, or who is in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional treatment is received or the crisis resolves.

YMHFA Refresher course benefits those who have already completed a Youth Mental Health First Aid Training but wish to uphold competence or update their skills. This first aid training refresher renews your first accreditation for another 3 years, allowing you to help more young people in need.

If you are previously accredited for youth mental health first aid within your workplace, it’s time to attend youth mental health refresher courses. A youth mental health refresher course only takes 5 hours, but then again it is unquestionable considering the amount of young lives it can help to preserve.

Course Overview

Youth Mental Health First Aid Refresher course gives participants chance to update their knowledge and skills learnt during the Youth MHFA (2 days). This refresher course encompasses movies, practical activities and additional course materials.

During the YMHFA Refresher training, you will learn:

  • Gaining an understanding of the latest research in the youth mental health area
  • Learn the 3 key actions for helping young person feeling suicidal
  • Work through mental health first aid actions
  • Practice skills gained through the initial course
  • Course Manual: All participants will receive a Youth Mental Health First Aid book which will be given during the course. If attending online (zoom) first aid refresher, first aid training book will be mailed to the designated address provided to us at the time of the registration.
  • YMHFA Re-Accreditation certificate

The cost of the training is – $167 inclusive GST
