Elevate WHS Committee Training with HBDI Assessment
Training is one way of building the efficacy of WHS committees, but another approach comes in a much rather quick and simple survey. It’s called the Hermann Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI) and it measures people’s inherent thinking style.
HBDI is developed from the Whole Brain Thinking Model coined by Ned Hermann which claims that although people have a preference, awareness of it can encourage them to adapt other thinking styles when the situation calls it. There are 4 different thinking preferences color coded into blue, yellow, green, and red.
Why WHSC Training & HBDI Consultation Work Well Together?
HBDI can be analysed in teams like WHS Committees and it’s a valuable source of data because it provides an idea of how a team’s compound thinking ability can be enhanced and trained for success. For instance, if members share a common dominance for quadrant A, then they know that they can trust each other for a thorough and approach to tasks that may amount to high-quality outputs. However, on areas which they may find lacking such as in quadrant C, perhaps, they will see to it make an active effort to understand and honor each other’s feelings more.
Simply put, an HBDI profile for WHS Committees will help members leverage their collective strength while paying more attention to what each can do to fill in each other’s lack and ultimately ensure the committee’s success.
