Legislations outline that workplace bullying and harassment is a repeated and unreasonable behaviour engaged to a worker or a group of workers that creates a risk to physical and psychological health and safety. What is repeated behaviour? It refers to the “persistent nature of the behaviour and can involve a range of behaviours over time”. Unreasonable behaviour: What is it? It is a reasonable person, having considered the circumstances, would see as unreasonable, including behaviour that is victimising, humiliating, intimidating or threatening.
Workplace bullying and harassment negatively affect the health of a person. It is a major psychological hazard, creates a psychological risk as there is a possibility that a person may be harmed if exposed to it. If effective workplace control measures are put in place to address, prevent, and resolve early, a workplace can reduce the risk of workplace bullying and harassment.
