Strategies to Invigorate Resiliency in the Workplace
Resilience means the ability to cope with the good and bad times with a persons capability to overcome challenges. Resiliency in the workplace can be learned, practiced and cultivated. Organisations can take a lead and initiate an effort to develop their people to be resilient by training. The word resiliens’ or resilire is comes from the (17th Century) Latin verb and it means is ‘to rebound or recoil’.
Some people seem to have the trait to recover well from unfortunate events in their life while some people seem to break down at such events. This does not mean that they cannot develop resilience.
Resilience is an extremely advantageous quality. It can be very helpful for anyone in their career, education and relationships. When people master the art of resilience, they can utilise their previous experiences to vanquish tough circumstances. Learning to be resilient, can help an individual to adept new skills, and deal with challenges with a different mindset. Workplace resiliency can similarly provide assistance to become more flexible and adaptable. As a person goes through the stages of life and challenges, the more they can overcome and expand as a resilient person.
Below are some strategies to invigorate workplace resiliency:
Be Accountable: Luck or good timing, has nothing to do with your failures or success. Have confidence in your talents, motivation and knowledge. They are your career accomplishments for standing out from the crowd.
Shun the Negativity: Negativity is the biggest obstacle in the path of becoming resilient. Negative thoughts always make a person think about what is the worst thing that can happen in a challenging path of resilience. Strength allows you to get back from the challenge. The first step is to see the challenges you face. Avoid using this is difficult, it is scary, and or I am worried. It’s okay to feel the way you feel. Take a deep breath and remind yourself that this is a moment in time and this moment, you will let yourself feel.
Know Yourself: It is important to feel connected. Recognise your values, strong points and purpose in life. Values, purpose and connections can give people comfort. And helps to strengthen them to get involved actively and confidently.
Be Flexible: When life does not go as planned, flexibility lets to build diverse strategies. As you do your new routine, you will probably experience moments of deep frustration. Allow yourself to relax the previously held irrational values. Have a plan.
Problem Solving: Use your resourcefulness to solve growing complications. Adapt your responses to others by knowing their level of stress. Adaptability will help you to navigate through whatever is ahead.
Set Goals: Setting goals helps to develop new behaviours, guides your focus and motivates you to achieve your objectives and targets. Therefore, when you encounter a disturbance, focus your mind on something constructive so that you can see the positive aspects of the situation.
Welcome Change: Change is inevitable, for progress, transformation, and development. If someone cannot accept the change then they are more inclined to stay in the same position. After overcoming the difficult situation, many people realise that they were not aware that they had the capability to adapt to challenging situations and turns to be victorious with self-assurance.
Get Enough Sleep: Brain cells are cleansed and regenerated during sleep. Depression will reduce cognitive function and increase emotional resilience. Looking closely at Netflix in difficult times can be a great way to escape the truth for a while. However, lack of sleep will reduce your stamina at a time when stamina is important. Therefore, set a schedule that includes a period of rest before bed. High-quality sleep will save you the energy you need to stay strong every day.
Exercise: There are three types of human energy – emotional, mental, and physical energy. And Physical strength is very important; when we are physically exhausted, we are quick to act emotionally, our thinking is blurred, and our judgment is distorted. A workout can shape physical strength. Take time in your workout day even if you are not used to exercising. A simple walk around your neighbourhood or park will boost your physical strength, allowing you to use the emotional and mental energy for the pressures you will encounter during the day.
